ABOUT OLDHAM - LEESBROOK

Oasis Hub Oldham is developing a community movement dedicated to the locality of Leesbrook. We use holistic methodology to work with schools, partners and residents to build a strong, safe, and resilient community. Our model and activities enables people to develop the skills and character to be more independent. We respond to the assets and needs of our local neighbourhood – actively involving community members in designing, delivering and leading activities. We provide family support services here at Leesbrook through our advice and guidance services. These aim to ensure that all families can access high-quality support with housing, benefits, employability skills, health and wellbeing, and more. We are in the process of developing a fully accredited debt advice centre to support families across Oldham. We also offer adult education and volunteering opportunities, including Creative English classes and our program of holiday activities. We are always ready to respond in an emergency, offering crisis support and food provision through our own weekly cooking program and in conjunction with partners across the Food Solutions network.

Hi – I’m Matt, Community Project Worker at the Oldham Hub, based in the locality of Leesbrook.

My background is in housing and homelessness. I am working to develop the advice and guidance services here at the Hub so we can offer the best possible support to our families and young people.

I want to make sure everybody has the skills they need to support themselves and their neighbours to be financially stable, healthy and happy. In my own time I love playing the drums and watching Man City!

The Oldham Hub provides family support services across the communities around Leesbrook and Clarksfield. We achieve this through our advice and guidance services. Our services aim to ensure that all families can access high-quality support with housing, benefits, employability skills, health and wellbeing, and more.

We are in the process of developing a fully accredited debt advice centre to support families all across Oldham.

We also offer adult education and volunteering opportunities, including Creative English classes and our program of holiday activities.

ABOUT OASIS

At Oasis, we are united by two core beliefs: that every human being is of equal worth and that each of us can only flourish when we are part of a thriving community. We have a radical and genuinely distinctive vision of community, seeking to reconnect people to each other and to the services they need. Motivated by the life, message and example of Jesus, we are committed to Inclusion, equality, healthy relationships, hope and perseverance and this permeates all aspects of the life and culture of our Hubs.

VISION AND VALUES

Inclusion
Equality
Healthy Relationships
Hope
Perseverance

Essential services can give people crucial support in daily life – but truly strong communities are built on the foundation of healthy relationships and people’s character.  Our hub model seeks to bring people closer, forging a strong sense to community identity.  In everything we do, we also look to embed the principles of strong character in ourselves and everyone we work with.  These principles are based on the Oasis 9 habits.
