In response to the high levels of food poverty and holiday hunger within the Hollinwood ward of Oldham the Oasis Community Kitchen aims to tackle food poverty and holiday hunger through an innovative catering project.

Community members meet each Wednesday during term time working in the catering kitchen within Oasis Academy Oldham to prepare healthy meals. Food is taken home on the day by the families and then during the holidays recipes are scaled up and served to up to 140 families in our local community who are attending holiday activity sessions (Hubabaloo) within the school. To raise funds for the project the team also provide a catering service, currently in house for Oasis academy oldham during external and internal events and conferences along with fundraising and support from partners including Onward homes, Greggs and Growing Oldham Feeding Ambition. We welcome anyone to the project whether new to cooking or a former chef but all work together to produce a variety of healthy meals. If you would like to join us call into the school for more information, follow Oasis Hub Oldham on facebook, email a.smyth@oasisoldham.org or call 07786110914.
